Animal models in Neuropsychiatric Disorders

Venue, Date and Time: Arts theater, Saturday 4th May, 02:00 pm
Organised by: Department of Psychiatry, Molecular Genetics and ADBS lab

Overview

The uniformity and conservation of the genetic code, the organization of neural networks, and patterns of behavior, across life forms, makes it feasible to explore animal models from the bottom up. Most genes that are being ‘discovered’ in human disease have homologs in animals, and their biology, as well as behavioral correlates can now be investigated. This offers an opportunity to understand the links between genes, brain(s) and behavior(s) in more detail than otherwise feasible. This workshop offers an introduction into these models with reference to many aspects of symptoms and syndromes that we see in the clinic.
